Eric Rampa Macheru plays Leeto in Skeem Saam

#SkeemSaam airs every weeknight on SABC 1 at 18.30pm

Eric Rampa Macheru is a former South African soccer player, model, TV presenter and MC. He is also known for winning the SABC1 reality competition Sokka Kings in 2005, which gave him the opportunity to train for a week at the English Premiership club Tottenham Hotspur, a one-year contract with Highlands Cape Town and a sports management contract.

Born and bred in Botlokwa, Polokwane Eric attended Kuschke Agricultural High school, where he was involved in school activities and debates.

Eric has always known what he wanted in life - when he was little he knew he would be a professional soccer player and a filmmaker. When he finished school he played soccer and then studied film at AFDA. In 2012 he joined a telenovela where he played the role of a top model named Rick. He also was also cast on Mfolozi Street, as Msindo.

Being the go getter that he is, Eric is also a brand ambassador and social media influencer for major South African brands. Constantly striving for success is one thing that he and the character he plays on Skeem Saam have in common.

A devoted husband, step-father and successful lawyer, Leeto Maputla seems to be living a life that many residents in Turfloop envy. He has however been going through his own little rollercoaster. Things got slightly tense in the Maputla household after his younger brother Thabo received brand new car as a graduation gift.

Now, as much as he has always felt like the least favourite brother, this gesture of favouritism has left Leeto feeling less than chuffed and wasn’t afraid of letting his parents know exactly how he felt. After being sent on a guilt trip, his father, John Maputla came up with an idea to contribute to finishing Leeto and Mokgadi’s new house.

Leeto subsequently turned his parents offer down but is adamant to finally complete the building on his house. Now that there are talks of bringing a new little Maputla into the world, maybe its best that the couple have their own new space to call their own.
