Communications Minister Ayanda Dlodlo has extended the appointments of three acting SABC executives.
The contracts of the acting CEO, COO and Chief Financial Officer were due to expire at midnight.
A new board is yet to appointed after President Jacob Zuma missed a deadline to do so more than two weeks ago.
The Minister's Spokesperson Mava Scott says, "The extension will extend until the vacancies are filled on a permanent basis. It’s not indefinite. The Minister informed Parliament that before the end of January 2018 she will have filled the positions at SABC. It could happen any time before that, but the deadline is in January 2018."
The three are the Group Chief Executive, Nomsa Philiso, Chief Operations Officer, Bessie Tugwana and the Chief Financial Officer, Thabile Dlamini.
The three will continue to act in until the vacancies are filled on a permanent basis.
