N West students await premier's bursary
The North West government has set aside R48 million to assist over 400 students to further their studies at tertiary institutions.
This week a group of students on the Mahikeng campus of North West University requested the office of the premier to intervene after their applications for funds National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas) were unsuccessful.
Nsfas has blacklisted 400 owing students. However the office of the premier says it will consider those who qualify for special bursaries.
Meanwhile a student says, “I still have not registered because, I am awaiting the premier's bursary.”
Another student says, “I have an outstanding amount of R22 000 that has accumulated since the year 2014. For that reason we came up with an idea to sell books and worse to generate income.”
