It was an exciting day for the SABC as we continue 'touching lives'.
Sithandiwe Ncwane, 24 years, from Umgababa is a young female who heads a family of 5 siblings.
A presentation of the land, was donated to the Ncwane family, through the office of the Premier of KZN by INKOSI (Umnini Traditional Authority).
The premier handed the letter of occupation to Metro fm & its partners (Chancellor House Holdings) granting permission to commence the building process. A furnished house (two bedroomed, with open plan kitchen, dining & lounge, separate toilet and bathroom. Fencing with butler proofs, Solar system and Jojo Tank) will be built and revealed on July 4th during the week of DBN July and Madiba's birthday month activations by the SABC and Metro fm.
Suppliers from the region as well as volunteers in the area will be engaged to work on the project. Nondumiso Cele, 29 years, from Umlazi, is a young female, who is taking care of 9 siblings. Her 33 year old sister is mentally challenged.
This family has an undersized RDP house, where there is only one bedroom for both males and females.
Another room will be added to this house to give them sufficient space to live in. Bedding, cabinets, a toilet and a path in the form of a rail stair case for easy access to the house hold, will be included to this house makeover.
Nondumiso has completed a financial course at tertiary; the SABC has allocated her a learnership in the Durban office. She commenced on the 1st of March 2013.Metro FM acknowledged the aged and hosted them to a 3 course meal at Elangeni Hotel. They were performances by Sgwili & Babo, Thina Zungu and many other entertainers who made the day special for all.
