Hopeville Wins at the 5th South African Film and Television Awards

The winners in the fiction category were announced yesterday; Karel’s accolade for Best Feature Film Production Designer and Themba’s accolade for Best Feature Film Actor for his role as ‘Amos’.

The film Hopeville tells the story of an alcoholic father played by Themba who tries to win the love of his son by fixing the local swimming pool. The series, a co-production between Curious Pictures, Heartlines and SABC Education, explores the impact of doing good in the lives of the whole community.

The SAFTAs are industry awards of which the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa are industry appointed custodians. The SAFTAs honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellence of South African, film and television talent, and encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talent in the industry.
