“The Men of the Year programme is part of the Brothers for Life and SABC Education partnership that through the power of radio mobilises men to improve the health and well being of families and communities. Over the past six months, the Brothers for Life talk shows engaged men on their responsibilities in the realisation of improved health outcomes in their homes and communities. As part of the talk show, communities were asked to identify ordinary men in their midst who champion the Brothers for Life values,” explains Jo Neethling, commissioning editor at SABC Education’s public information and social development unit.
Brothers for Life is a collaborative effort by the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), the Department of Health, USAID/PEPFAR, Johns Hopkins Health and Education in South Africa (JHHESA), Sonke Gender Justice, the United Nations System in South Africa and over 100 other civil society partners working in the field of HIV prevention and health.
