iSpani S7 logoiSpani, SABC1 Tuesdays at 14:00, has become a firm favourite of learners, school leavers, graduates, educators and parents over the past 7 seasons.  Returning for an 8th season this real look into the world of work has already followed over 350 young South Africans from around the country as they transition into their post-education lives.

“In an economy where skills are in high demand but work is hard to come by preparing new entrants for the reality and challenges of the workplace is critical to them getting, and keeping, positions,” says Selvan Munsamy, producer of the 2015 Best Youth SAFTA winning programme. “We are all aware of the difficulties our youth face, iSpani offers business the chance to open up their operations so our viewers can make informed decisions about exactly what their ‘dream career’ is really all about.”

Each week a Hustler, or candidate, shares their preparation, interview, job shadowing and skills assessment at host companies from every sector as they take their first step in joining the formal economy.  In addition to sharing the emotional journey each Hustler has travelled to this point, iSpani unpacks the academic, technical and soft skill requirements encountered along the way, supported by iSpani career coach Motlalepula Matsaung and presenter (and cheerleader in chief) Mac Leshomo.

Season 8 is set to explore new qualifications and emerging careers, giving the audience a direct view into opportunities they may otherwise never encounter.  iSpani is also a gateway into the trades with Season 8 focusing in on the increasing role of artisans and the opportunities that are available to them.  iSpani Skilling You Fo’ Sho’ every Tuesday at 14h00 on SABC1.
