Since President Cyril Ramaphosa declared coronavirus a national disaster on Sunday, South Africans have been taking steps to protect themselves and their families.

Sixty-two confirmed cases have been reported in the country with several more, including two of internal transmission, under investigation.

Mother of two, Caprice Chetty says as a precaution, she has stocked up on groceries and other essential items.

“The coronavirus, yes (I’m) definitely afraid. I have cancelled all my travels, even though it’s local and following the guidelines of hygiene and social distancing that was provided. From the stockpiling perspective, I did go and buy a few things, I have a two weeks supply.”

“In addition, I have prepared a little go bag for my kids, husband and I with food items, travel documents and clothing. I will not send my children to school; I don’t feel comfortable so I already stopped them from today,” explains Chetty.
